A HERVEY Bay woman went on a spending spree another person's bank cards after they were stolen from their home, a court heard.

Talia Jayne Jones-Ruzic, 21, pleaded guilty to 23 charges including eight of fraud, two attempted fraud and a number of drugs charges.

The incidents all occurred in December last year and January this year.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Wayne Bushell said on December 2 a bank card was taken from an Urraween home.

He said CCTV caught Jones-Ruzic just hours later using that card at the Torquay Night Owl where she and friends had bought a number of items, including cigarettes.

Sgt Bushell said Jones-Ruzic told police an unknown man had given her the card, asking her to buy cigarettes for his mother.

He said the next day, a bank card was reported as stolen after a car had been broken into.

Jones-Ruzic was later found in possession of that card.

Sgt Bushell said bank statements showed the card had been used a number of times at chemists, a BWS and other stores in the Hervey Bay area.

Defence lawyer Michael Riedel said Jones-Ruzic had not been responsible for all the uses of the card.

"She was with a group of friends and they were passing the card between each other," he said.

Mr Riedel said the total amount of purchases was under $500.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell sentenced Jones-Ruzic to 18 months probation and 160 hours community service.
