Shot fired during home invasion

THREE men were still at large late this afternoon after an armed home invasion in North Rockhampton on Wednesday night.

Residents told The Morning Bulletin that they heard nothing but would definitely be increasing their security measures.

Police said about midnight, three unknown men forced their way into the home and threatened the occupants with a firearm while demanding money.

A shot was fired during the incident but no one was injured.

The men were last seen heading towards Rockonia Rd after fleeing the scene.

One resident said he was surprised to hear a gun being used in a home invasion in his street.

“It’s a reasonably nice sort of neighbourhood,” he said.

He said he was now concerned about his family’s safety.

Another resident, a young mother of two, said while she didn’t hear anything at the time of the incident, there was a lot of crime in the area.

“There was a fellow sitting up a tree at the school (Mt Archer) with, I believe, a knife,” she said.

She said police had surrounded him when the incident occurred about two weeks ago.

Another woman said it was a serious matter that guns were used.

“What’s going to come next?” she said.
