Shots set alarm bells ringing for The Caves resident

NEWELLS Rd resident Michael Peacock was pottering around his house when neighbour Linda Boulton raced over to raise the alarm.

Next minute there were half a dozen cop cars flying past his home, at number 21.

It was about 5pm on Tuesday and Linda had just alerted Michael to a shooting at the property 300m up the road.

It was at the home belonging to the Hart family.

The 74-year-old pensioner said he had never before seen so much action in the 24 years he had lived at his home.

Linda's vet had called her to say he heard about the shooting over the scanner.

Michael told The Morning Bulletin he knew the Hart family well.

About 5.30pm police officers arrived on Linda's doorstep, warning her she may be evacuated.

They told Michael to stay inside and to keep his house locked.

It was about 10pm when police officers called back to Linda's house to evacuate her from the property. They transported her to a family friend's home nearby.

She said police officers had set up a roadblock near her place.
