Show off your short shorts

AS we settle into what will be a sizzling summer in CQ, micro shorts are shaping up to be the season’s most versatile trend.

And if you’ve got pins like Rockhampton’s Keira Murray, why not show them off?

The 20-year-old stepped into the latest summer fashions at Stockland Rockhampton’s Rush Surf Clothing where a new tie-dye denim has made the shelves for something different this year.

The store manager, Louise Hannon said the sky blue and white stone wash, inspired from the likes of the Gold Coasts trendiest looks, were proving to be popular.

With the temperatures creeping up, Ms Hannon said they were already stocked up with close to seven pairs of the latest micro shorts and prices ranged between $49 for a basic style to the fancier looks around the $69 mark.

“They’re so versatile and look hot with a basic singlet or something a bit dressier matched with a pair of strappy flats,” Ms Hannon said.

Although short shorts aren’t for everyone, Ms Hannon said it wasn’t only the young ones sporting the latest fashion trend.

She said young fit mums were wearing them too.

Keira, who is studying human movement science and occupational health and safety at uni, said in summer she lived in shorts.

“I prefer the darker denim because I have pale skin and I’m also into linen shorts that are nice and cool,” Kiera said.

Keira said she was working on her bikini body at the gym and was looking forward to grabbing new summer togs.

Ms Hannon said this year, the bikinis were cheekier than with a splash of bright colours like reds, blues and hot pinks with a touch of black.

“The plain colours are fading out and the bright patterns are taking over,” she said.
