Siege man fires gunshots

POLICE are warning residents of a Moranbah street to stay inside their houses due to a developing siege situation.

It is believed a man inside a McCool Street residence is armed with a firearm which he has discharged several times.

Police road closures are in place and people are advised to avoid areas in the vicinity of McCool Street.

Road closures include McCool, Williams, Hannan and Grout streets.

Police were advised about 2.40pm that a man had broken into a McCool Street house and was threatening self harm.

They are currently negotiating with the man, who is believed to be on his own inside the house.
