Significant marijuana crop discovered, four detained

A SIGNIFICANT crop of marijuana has been located and seized near Mt Carbine over the weekend.

Four men have been charged over the crop after a warrant was executed on the property off the Mulligan Highway. 

Police say the four were allegedly involved in processing the harvested marijuana.

They seized nearly 800 mature plants from two growing plots as well as 80 kilograms of dried product. 

Police described the campsite as well-equipped.

A 40-year-old from Dimbulah, 43-year-old from Mareeba, 50-year-old from Atherton and 57-year-old Bartle Frere man were each charged with production of a dangerous drug and possession of a dangerous drug.

They are due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on November 14.
