Sisters score selection

INDOOR HOCKEY: Rockhampton's Jessica and Ebonee Moffat will play together in a Queensland indoor hockey team for the first time next year.

The sisters have been selected in the state under-15 team to compete at the national championships in Wollongong in January.

While they both donned the maroon and white last year in the under-13 division, they played in different teams.

This year they will play together as Queensland fields just the one team at the under-15 nationals.

The sisters' selection came after Rockhampton finished runners-up at the state championships played in Maryborough.

The Rocky girls finished top of their table after recording four big wins in their round games - 4-nil over the Sunshine Coast, 7-2 over the highly fancied Brisbane Vipers, 10-2 over Maryborough Blue and 8-1 over Brisbane Yellow.

This set up a showdown with Maryborough Orange in the grand final and it proved to be a thriller.

Drawn 3-all at full-time, the game went to shootouts. The teams could still not be split and golden goal shootouts came into play.

Rockhampton was eventually beaten 6-5.

Jessica (left), who captained Rocky, was the team's highest goal scorer and the second highest goal scorer of the tournament.

Jessica and Ebonee's teammate Rowlande Williams was also selected in the Queensland team. Brianna Richards was named as a shadow.

Rockhampton also scored selection success in the under-15 boys with Kaleb Christensen, Darcy Milner and Kosia Williams making the state side and Sean McDonald named as a shadow.
