Small crowds appreciate Musical Union's big show

WHILE the crowds may not have flooded in for the Rockhampton Musical Union's Anything Goes, Pat McKenna's spirits remained undampened.

The show's director said while ticket sales remained a disappointment over the weekend, it didn't stop the cast from shining.

"The show went very well and we are very pleased," she said.

"The audience seemed to respond very well to it... but it was a tough weekend because there was a lot on, it really makes it hard for us."

The show's Friday night opening was the biggest of the weekend, selling 678 tickets of the Pilbeam Theatre's 900-seat capacity.

Saturday reported the poorest numbers with 413, while Sunday saw an attendance of 500.

"It's a little sad that not enough people came, but still it was excellent," Pat said.

"We had standing ovations, they were yelling and it was a wonderful audience response.

"We could not ask for anything better."
