Crews to continue water bombing grass fire into the morning

UPDATE 5.30PM: CREWS are still on scene at the large grassfire burning in the Shoalwater Bay area. 

A Queensland Fire and Rescue spokeswoman confirmed this afternoon that crews will continue using aircrafts to water bomb the fire with a number of fire crews also on the ground until tomorrow morning. 

 

 

ROCKHAMPTON, Yeppoon and surrounding areas are currently being affected by a large smoke haze, due to a number of bushfires in the area, including the South Ulam fire and Byfield fire.

Residents should close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists should drive with caution and to the conditions. If your home is under threat, please call 000 immediately.
