Snails set EIS pace

THE Nathan Dam project can now move faster than snail’s pace, with SunWater recommencing work on its environmental impact studies for the project.

After recent surveys found new populations of the previously thought endangered boggomoss snail that saw its numbers swell from the estimated 600 to over 18,000, the Commonwealth Department of Environment Water Heritage and the Arts gave approval to re-start the process.

SunWater had been liaising with DEWHA on the snail issue since it was first identified.
