Snell double helps Southside United bounce back in style
STEVEN Snell ensured Southside United bounced back in the only way he knows.
The former joint CQ player of the year scored a double as Southside returned to the winner's circle in Week 17 of the Rockhampton and District A1 men's competition.
The only side to have really pushed the nine-time premiers in 2014, Southside went down 8-1 to Wanderers last weekend but returned to form with a 4-1 win over Park Avenue Brothers at Kalka Shades on Saturday night.
Southside joined Wanderers on the Week 17 A1 men's winner's list after their 3-1 win over Frenchville Rovers, while both Gladstone sides had their Rockhampton-based rivals' measure in the A1 women's.
Meteors managed a 4-0 win over Southside United on their home turf while a double to Hannah Lowry and another to Meghan Jeynes helped Sparks to a 3-1 win over Gladstone Souths.
Southside will be boosted by the inclusion of youngster Douglas Buckley, who touched down in Rockhampton yesterday after leading Australian Schoolboys on their successful tour of South Africa.
It's a timely return to the club, given they're taking on a red-hot Meteors who head into the contest on the back of a 7-3 win over Gladstone rivals Sparks.
Mitchell Ryan scored a double for Meteors while Josh Baxter found the back of the net twice to give Sparks a chance.
