Songstress Kate Miller-Heidke tours before Big Apple
KATE Miller-Heidke's upcoming regional tour will be the last chance to see the songstress before she embarks on a few operatic projects.
The Brisbane singer/songwriter is taking her latest album, the crowd-funded O Vertigo!, on the road to regional centres after touring the capital cities earlier this year.
Heidke says she's delighted with her independently released O Vertigo! peaking at No 4 on the ARIA albums chart and No 3 on the ARIA Australian albums chart.
"I'm stoked about the whole thing really. I feel really lucky," she told APN.
"It's always a weird feeling when you work on something so concertedly for so long and then all of a sudden it's almost not yours anymore, but what's been really fun is playing the new songs live and slotting them into the set. They're taking on a life."
After her regional shows in August, Heidke heads overseas to launch the album in the UK before taking up residence in New York City to perform with the Metropolitan Opera's production of The Death of Klinghoffer.
"I'm pinching myself about it," she said.
"It's not something I really anticipated and went for; it had just fallen into my lap in a way."
Kate Miller-Heidke plays Toowoomba's Empire Church Theatre on August 7, the QPAC Concert Hall in Brisbane on August 8 and the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre on August 10.
