South-west Qld in grips of severe fire danger

A WARNING has been issued to south-west Queensland residents to be extra vigilant with heightened fire danger expected in the coming days.

Acting South West regional manager Col Neal said precautions were being taken by firefighters to prepare for potential vegetation fires.

"Very high fire danger has been forecast for Windorah, Quilpie, Ballera, Thargomindah, Cunnamulla, Charleville, Tambo, St George, Taroom and surrounds for today and in coming days," Mr Neal said.

"Warm temperatures combined with low humidity and strong winds make conditions perfect for fires to spark and spread quickly," Mr Neal said.
