Special living history unit will stage a remembrance service

A REMEMBRANCE Day Service will be held at Rockhampton's John Leak Memorial in Huish Drv on Monday.

The 9th Battalion Living History Unit, with permission of Rockhampton Regional Council, will hold the commemoration at 10.45am.

The unit was formed at the Central Queensland Military Museum in Rockhampton in 2011.

The focus of the unit is to preserve and honour the history of the 9th (Queensland) Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Division AIF as many of its members signed up for service in Rockhampton and the surrounding districts in 1914-18.

The unit also honours all other personnel who served during the First World War. The unit provides displays, living history presentations and participates in civic events and commemorations.
