Speculation on Crow does not help: Selwood

GEELONG captain Joel Selwood says ongoing speculation about the future of Adelaide Crows midfield star Patrick Dangerfield is unfair.

Dangerfield (pictured) will play his first NAB Challenge match this year when the Crows take on Geelong at Simonds Stadium tonight.

The 24-year-old, who grew up in Moggs Creek, less than 50km from Geelong as the crow flies, is off contract at the end of this season and has been linked with a return home since being overlooked for the Adelaide captaincy in January.

"I think the speculation is a bit unfair on not only the player in Patrick himself, but also Adelaide footy club and Geelong footy club," Selwood said.

The Cats skipper will also make his NAB Challenge debut for 2015 tonight after a minor knee injury.

Selwood said fellow midfielder Steve Johnson had ramped up his training and was a chance to play in the final pre-season game against Carlton on March 22.
