Car fan shakes hands with Australian marathon driver

ROCKHAMPTON car memorabilia collector Barry Mansfield hoped to add another memoir to his stash this week.

He certainly did that when he met Australia's marathon driver in the Dunlop Series V8 Supercars Series Aaron McGill, who is retiring this year.

He got to shake his hand and had a quick photo with him on Monday, when Aaron called into Battery World in Musgrave St to meet his fans.

There were a handful of car enthusiasts waiting to meet Aaron, who is taking to the grid at Townsville's Castrol Edge 400 for the last time.

Aaron has had more starts in Dunlop Series V8 Supercars than any other driver.

Battery World Australia had upped the ante in its sponsorship of the veteran driver to help him celebrate his retirement from the series at the end of this year.
