Actor from iconic Star Wars scene dies

THE man who played one of Star Wars' unforgettable characters has died.

Alfie Curtis, who played a disfigured man who tried to pick a fight with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in George Lucas' film Star Wars: A New Hope, has died age 87.

Curtis, who played the uncredited Dr. Evazan, was in the famous Cantina scene where Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi (Sir Alec Guinness) first meet Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew).

Curtis passed away this week according to Comicbook.com.

Hamill reacted to the actor's death by posting a tribute on Twitter.

The British actor also starred in The Elephant Man, The Wildcats of St. Trinian's and Take It or Leave It.

His death comes a year after Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) passed away.

Hamill showed she was at the forefront of his thoughts as he posted a touching tribute to the actress on the anniversary of her death on Twitter.

Hamill marked the first anniversary of his close friend's death with a photomontage, which saw an early shot of them together twinned with one of them starring in the latest instalment in the sci-fi series, The Last Jedi, reports The Sun.

He accompanied it with a funny artwork of a sketch showing Fisher, who passed away suddenly last year, in robes and a crown, carrying her famous french bulldog, Gary Fisher, in one hand as she stuck up the middle finger of the other.
