Stefan discovers Rocky's talent

A LUXURY trip to Hong Kong never factored into Danielle Duke’s thoughts when she first became intrigued by foils, bangs, streaks, curls, crimps and straightening irons in high school.

But 12 years later, the seasoned hairdresser and manager of Stockland Rockhampton’s Stefan Hair Fashions has won eight accolades and numerous trips to the Asian dynamo.

Danielle won a top managing award this year at Stefan’s Hair Couture and Awards Night on Sunday in Brisbane.

But the biggest prize in her mind was seeing four hair stylists from her team awarded for their creativity.

“The northside store received four trophies and southside received two,” Danielle said.

“I’m just so proud of all of the girls – this has been a pretty great year for us.

“Rockhampton and Gladstone brought home nine trophies this year.”

However, the star who shone brightest from Rockhampton was undoubtedly Tiarny Strachan.

Awarded the Level One Creative Overall Wow Factor trophy, she beat fellow Stefan first-year hairdressers across Queensland and from Sydney in the hairstyle stakes.

Given a photo of her hair model and a colourful fascinator two weeks ago, Tiarny created a fashionable hairdo at the awards on Sunday to wow even the main man.

“She told me she had this great idea and she showed me and I said go for it,” Danielle said.

“She did a great job and she’s only in her first year.”

And now Tiarny’s trip to Hong Kong will inspire her for next year. Anyone who receives an award gets a trip to Hong Kong for a three-day conference and hair show, and two days of shopping.
