Stoner to race again

CASEY Stoner is intent on racing again and insists he will not ride off into the sunset earlier than originally planned.

The Aussie MotoGP champion is recovering after surgery on the right ankle he injured during qualifying for the Indianapolis GP last month.

Stoner, who is retiring at the end of the season, said pulling the pin early was not an option for him - he's determined to be back on his Honda in time for the Australian GP at Phillip Island on October 28.

"For it to end like this would be a disaster for me," the 26-year-old said. "I've still got a season to finish. I've got a job to do and to see through."
