Store takes craft to next level

A SPINAL injury put her out of a job, but Kaylene Swadling is not one to sit down and watch life go by.

The Rockhampton woman quickly set about following her passion for craft and photography, and opened her very own craft store Out & About Crafts.

The store goes beyond the usual scrapbooking criteria, taking in card-making and also Kaiser craft, which Kaylene says takes scrapbooking to the next level using wooden pieces to create fantastic looking scrapbooks, frames or plaques.

“My passion is photography and scrapbooking and the Kaiser craft as well,” Kaylene said.

“It’s a way to bring my passion to my work.”

Having been a craft supply customer, Kaylene hopes to offer reasonable prices to ensure her products are affordable and is planning on offering classes to help teach her customers more about the crafts.

The store is in Berserker St, just a few shops down from the corner of Elphinstone St. Bookings for classes can be made in person or by phoning 0439 140 909.
