Stores are running out of Marvel discs and parents aren’t happy
THE countdown is on for kids all over the country to complete their collection of the Woolworths Marvel Heroes Super Discs.
If you fall in the "I have to care for my kid" category - you better get on it because not only does the promotion finish Tuesday, May 30, some stores have already run out!!
Jess, from Sydney's inner west, who has been collecting the discs for her two young kids, has already discovered the severe shortage of the super popular plastic discs.
"They've loved playing with the discs, and although they're too young to really understand wanting the whole collection, they've enjoyed connecting them together," she told news.com.au.
The frustrated mum, who shops with Woollies online, said she was disappointed to receive an email after placing her order, informing her that the discs were out of stock.
The way this craze works is the more you spend on your groceries, the more plastic beauties you get in your hot little hand.
But of course, they won't necessarily be the discs that your kids need - that's the grocery gamble, you see …
"I thought I would do one last big shop and try and get as many discs as possible. I deliberately purchased items with the 'bonus disc' symbol, and was promised 19 discs at the end of my shop," Jess says.
"I know it's just a bit of fun, and really, there are bigger problems in the world, but if you've ever tried using logic to negotiate with toddlers, you would know it's bloody hard to explain why they aren't getting the thing they want."
Kidspot spoke to a mum on Thursday who was sold a fake disc on eBay.
Luckily her four-year-old son Benjamin is none the wiser and is now 'King of the Kids' in his neighbourhood as he has what seems to be the complete set.
But his mum, Annalise, was livid and sent a very unimpressed email to the eBay seller.
"I hope you are happy - you have made one little boy very disappointed and horrified his mother. How dare you try to profit from this!?" she wrote.
"This was the very last disc he needed for his collection and, trying to be a good mum and make my boy happy, I resorted to eBay to get it for him!"
This craze has got so out of control that one elusive disc was going for a ludicrous $800!!
A Woolworths spokesperson said the Marvel Heroes promotion has proved incredibly popular with customers since its launch on 19 April.
"With only six days to go and while stocks last, we encourage customers to visit local stores to complete their collection," the spokesperson said on Friday.
"For any customers with concerns about online purchases in relation to the Marvel Heroes campaign please contact our consumer care line on 1800 000 610 where we will be able to investigate further."
