Melbourne Storm downs New Zealand Warriors

MELBOURNE captain Cameron Smith moved into the top 10 point scorers in rugby league as the Storm took care of bogey team the Warriors 30-14 at AAMI Park.

A perfect five from five with the boot yesterday boosted Smith's career haul with the Storm to 1693 points.

It was also Smith's 200th win of his career.

Melbourne led 12-4 at half time and extended the margin to 18-4 with a try to Will Chambers just after half time. But a dummy half try by Warriors hooker Nathan Friend, who stepped inside Billy Slater in the 58th minute, cut the margin to 18-10.

Melbourne's response was to score a 90-metre try after winger and man-of-the-match Marika Koroibete broke clear and sprinted 70 metres before being chopped down by Shaun Johnson.

With the Warriors defence scattered, Tim Glasby finished off the move to push the Storm out to a 24-10 lead which was never really threatened.
