Storms leave 2500 without power in south-east Queensland

MORE than 2500 properties remained without power on Monday morning after severe storms hit south-east Queensland, mainly in the Logan and Moreton Bay areas.

According to the Energex website, Moreton Bay Regional Council area had 1449 properties without power.

Logan had 1028, the Scenic Rim 48 while there were 39 power outages that were classified as 'unknown'.

Energex is urging affected residents to be patient while power is restored.

Updates will be provided every 15 minutes on its website or you can call 13 62 62 to notify Energex of power outages or to seek advice on restoration timeframes.

In an emergency, such as fallen powerlines or electric shocks, call 13 19 62.

While Sunday's storms were not as widespread as first feared, they brought hail down on parts of Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan.

Further severe thunderstorms are predicted to hit until Thursday.

Storm warnings are available through the Bureau of Meteorology's website at bom.gov.au
