Storms coming back at us for weekend says CQ weatherman

THE skies may look clear now, but don't put that umbrella away just yet.

Rockhampton can expect more storms over the weekend followed by a cool change.

Local weatherman Mike Griffin said the temperature was set to rise ( 34-35C) again moving into the weekend before storms hit the region.

"There'll be a few storms, a bit of lightning and probably some heavy falls (20-30mm), maybe some gusty winds (80kmh) that could cause tree damage," he said. "There are very warm to hot northerlies coming ahead of some storms starting in the southern parts of the Central Highlands as early as Friday night..(They will) move north towards the central coast by Saturday night."

He also said to expect a cooler south east breeze Sunday; after the storms. The cooler conditions should continue to mid next week.
