Stranded Hervey Bay trawler at mercy of Cap Coast tides

THE owner of a Hervey Bay fishing trawler is facing his toughest battle against the tides with word that Rosella is still stranded on Farnborough Beach.

Yesterday a Yeppoon Coast Guard spokesman said he believed the 13m trawler's captain pulled the anchor aboard the vessel some time last week while it was at Hervey Bay.

He said it then drifted north.

Speculation the boat was stolen had been ruled out.

"It took about two days to reach Farnborough Beach ... that's when it was found," he said.

It was believed that Rosella's crew found out the boat was in the Capricorn Coast on Friday.

The Morning Bulletin tried to contact the owner of the vessel yesterday, but he did not return the newspaper's calls.

It was not known when or how the boat would be towed back to Hervey Bay.
