Streaker allegedly attacks elderly woman, arrested at school

A 26 year old Sunshine Coast man is facing multiple charges over a streaking incident that left the community of Proserpine in shock last week.

Police arrested the man about 5pm last Wednesday, April 28, outside Proserpine State School on Renwick Road.

After initially being held in hospital for assessment, the man was charged over the weekend with multiple serious offences including assault occasioning bodily harm.

Police allege about 4.40pm on April 28, the man attended an address in Tamarind Crescent, entered a garage and assaulted a man seated in his vehicle and woman who attempted to help the victim.

He then allegedly entered the yard of a nearby address, forcing the gate to the property open and allegedly injuring an elderly woman.

The man then allegedly entered another property and threatened the residents of that address with a star picket.

Officer-in-charge Sergeant Mark Flynn said police responded to reports of "a naked man in the area exposing himself to a number of people including children".

"An off-duty police officer approached the man and was allegedly punched in the face before restraining him," Sgt Flynn said.

He is also charged with enter premises and commit an indictable offence, two counts of common assault, two counts of serious assault, wilful exposure, wilful damage and trespass.

The man will face Proserpine Magistrates Court in June.
