Stylish indoor plant shop expands to Toowoomba

Indoor house plants are growing in popularity, with many people wanting to add some greenery to their homes.

A Pittsworth-based retail business which specialises in selling house plants along with pots, baskets, plant care and accessories is expanding to Toowoomba.

The Mills Production launched last year and initially started out as an interior design and renovation business, but now its primary focus is on indoor plants.

It is owned and operated by Emily Mills and she said the idea began when COVID-19 reduced her interior design work.

“I initially began redecorating our own home with a variety of plants and due to the social media attention I began to sell some,” she said.

“It’s evolved from selling plants in my dining room, to a repurposed greenhouse, then shipping container, and finally our own shop in Pittsworth.”

She said expanding to Toowoomba was a natural progression for the business as many residents would drive to Pittsworth to visit her shop.

“The Toowoomba shop will stock and sell the same products as our Pittsworth shop,” she said.

“I’m also always offering plant advice both in-store and online.

“We have recently started plant workshops due to popular demand.

“We love how much happiness plants bring to people and the reaction when people see our shop for the first time.

“The Garden City can never have too many plants.

“We feel they are the new flowers and are a very popular gift idea for birthdays, teacher presents and other occasions.”

The Mills Production will open at 86 Russell St on Saturday, May 1.

It will be closed on Monday for deliveries and Tuesday for restock, but open Wednesday to Sunday.

Customers can also order online at www.themillsproduction.com.
