Gold Coast Suns’ culture crackdown now costs Danny Stanley

THE Gold Coast Suns will be without a fourth player against the Adelaide Crows on Saturday after Danny Stanley was dropped for disobeying the team drinking ban.

Stanley joins Harley Bennell, Trent McKenzie and Brandon Matera on the outer after it was revealed he too had broken the team's no-alcohol rule that says players cannot drink six days out from a game.

He would have been in line for a call-up to the senior team but now he will be forced to sit the game out.

Even though he has only 24 fit players, coach Rodney Eade said it was important to enforce standards.

"If we're going to be successful, the players have got to own the team, drive each other, challenge each other, set standards," he said.

Tom Nicholls and Charlie Dixon also admitted drinking but won't be suspended as it was at a family dinner which is permitted under the player-enforced rules.
