Surf coaches offer expertise

SOME of the state's finest professional surfing coaches and instructors are offering free, one-hour beginners surfing lessons.

The lessons are part of a free Get Wet Weekend on October 24-25, catering for people of all ages and abilities, and held at the Big Dune, Farnborough Beach.

After an overwhelmingly positive response to the inaugural free Get Wet Weekend last year and with the rapid growth of surfing participation levels in these areas, Surfing Queensland operations manager Mark Winson said the free Get Wet Weekend was one of the most satisfying events on the Surfing Queensland calendar.

“Increasing investment in the grassroots development of surfing, through providing assets such as the free Get Wet Weekend satisfies an integral part of the Surfing Queensland mission,” Winson said.

All equipment is provided at the free Get Wet Weekend lessons and participants will be coached by professional, qualified Surfing Queensland coaches.

Bookings can be made at www.surfingqueensland.com or by calling the Surfing Queensland Head Office on 5520 1165.

A total of 125 free spots are available for males and females aged eight to 80.

Some timeslots are already filled up, so make sure you book now.
