"Swallow, don't chew" is Plane man's key to Monsta success

YOU'VE got to have the stomach to digest a "real man's feed" and that's just what Rockhampton man Brett Plane had.

Mr Plane's recipe for success, as Rockhampton's steak eating champion, was "just swallow ... don't chew".

The polished pro walked away from The Great Western Hotel on Friday night a steak-eating champion after cleaning up a whopping 2kg steak, a side of mashed spuds and coleslaw.

Each contestant had to devour every crumb, gristle and piece of fat to win the coveted trophy.

Could you eat 2kg of steak in one hour?

It was a struggle for Mr Plane, who lives in Frenchville, but he tucked away his whole meal, bar the plate and cutlery, in a record-breaking 27 minutes and 36 seconds.
