Take a ride on El Chepe

MEXICO only has one passenger train but what it lacks in company it certainly makes up for in quality. Known as El Chepe by locals, the Copper Canyon Railway takes passengers from the desert to the Pacific Coast in north-west Mexico, passing sheer canyon walls, waterfalls and plains. The railway stretches more than 650km from Chihuahua to Los Mochis on the coast, travelling over 36 bridges and through 87 tunnels. It has been running for more than 50 years.

The 11-day Copper Canyon tour is a must for lovers of the great outdoors - kayaking, guided hikes, the world famous Chepe Train, a deluxe picnic lunch and a fabulous live music session complete with free-flowing sangria.

On this all-encompassing group departure trip you will find yourself immersed in a culture and land that is still considered rural and mostly untamed. You'll get to experience everything from kayaking down the El Fuerte River to hiking to old petroglyphs in the Secret Forest, riding the Chepe Train, travelling to the bottom of Copper and Batopilas canyons, seeing the enigmatic Raramuri Indians and visiting an old silver mining town.
