Yeppoon Show Society returns to Miss Showgirl quest
From The Capricorn Coast Mirror
YEPPOON Show Society has returned to the Miss Showgirl competition run state-wide by the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies (QCAS) after a gap of five years, thanks to local nomination Jacquie-Lee Ellaway, 23, of Tanby.
Jacquie-Lee will contest the QCAS Central Queensland Sub-chamber Miss Showgirl quest alongside entrants from some of the 18 show societies from Childers to Mackay.
She needs to win the sub-chamber quest to qualify to enter the finals, which will be judged at the Royal Brisbane Show in August.
Jacquie-Lee was educated at St Ursula's College, Yeppoon, where she became a house captain and advanced her career into administration with a Business Administration Certificate III.
Fond of physical recreation, Jacquie-Lee enjoys camping, fishing and swimming, hiking, bike-riding and netball.
Her interest in cooking will be a great asset in her ambition to marry, raise a family and own her own family home.
Jacquie-Lee sees her role as a Miss Showgirl entrant as one which will promote the Yeppoon Show beyond the local community and involve youth.
She said she believed the Yeppoon Show had the potential to grow once word spread further about our fantastic region.
