Team New Zealand sets up America's Cup rematch with the USA

EMIRATES Team New Zealand has cruised into a rematch with Oracle Team USA and will be out for revenge in the America's Cup, starting on Saturday.

The Kiwi outfit was left treading water when the US team made a remarkable comeback in San Francisco four years ago. The Americans are now gunning for a third straight America's Cup crown.

Team New Zealand beat Sweden's Artemis Racing in the best-of-nine challenger final 5-2 on Tuesday morning (AEST).

After the race was delayed a couple of hours, Kiwi skipper Peter Burling delivered a textbook display in light winds to seal its spot.

"We're obviously pretty excited," Burling said. "I think it showed during that race ... The boat was just going seriously fast.

"We definitely feel like we're in great shape to take on Oracle now."

Oracle goes into the first-to-seven final with a valuable one-point advantage thanks to it topping the standings in the round-robin phase of qualifying.

But Burling said he and his crew would be up to the challenge, having escaped a frightening capsize in heavy winds in a challenger semi-final race with Britain's Land Rover BAR last week.

No one was seriously hurt but the boat required a massive repair job just to resume racing.

"One thing about this team, they've dug super-deep to get us to this point," Burling said.
