Teen bitten by snake twice in two days
CLEARING scrub with a chainsaw, Brad Cremasco knew it wouldn't be good when he felt the "whack" on his leg.
The 18-year-old from Proserpine, who works on rural properties in the region, had been bitten by a snake.
It was the second time in two days.
He had never been bitten by a snake before but knew it wasn't entirely unusual given his line of work.
But he says he has to be "pretty unlucky" to be bitten twice in two days.
"Within a matter of 30 seconds my arm was in a lot of pain tingling in my mouth loss of sensation and I was seeing stars," he said.
He was working in Central Queensland on November 18.
"I was down in the paddock clearing scrub out near Clermont and I felt a whack on my leg," he said.
"I had a look at it straight away and noticed there was two puncture marks.
"I went to Clermont Hospital and then they did observations and they sent me to Mackay on the (RACQ CQ Rescue) helicopter."
In the paddock on his own Mr Cremasco said it was lucky his boss had pulled up just after he was bitten, although he had been able to get back to a ute to use a two-way radio to call for help.
"I was wearing jeans, boots and long-sleeved shirt. I did all I could to prevent it, it's a bit hard working on properties. I'll be keeping my eyes open a bit more now," he said.
Released from Mackay Base Hospital on Saturday, he headed back to work on Sunday.
"...It would have been around 8.15am that it (the second snake bite) happened," he said.
"I was back clearing the scrub and put the chainsaw down in knee deep grass when I felt the whack at the top of my forearm and I saw the brown colour of the snake.
"It bit me under the forearm and I got a bit of a bruise there."
He says its a "burning, tingling" sensation, about a "six out of 10".
"I've had quite a bit of attention on Facebook and people in the local area that know me fair few friends were concerned and my family has been great.
"Mum came to the hospital the second time as the first time I didn't think it was too serious the second time when I was in pain... my family has been great about it."
