Teen girl arrested in Murgon for Rocky car steal

A teenage girl has been arrested in Murgon over the brazen theft of a car from a Rockhampton driveway two weeks ago.

Police charged the 17-year-old with unlawful use of a motor vehicle after she was picked up by officers in Murgon on Sunday 470km south of Rockhampton.

She allegedly stole a 1994 Toyota Camry from a North Rockhampton driveway about 11.30pm on May 20.

The front end of the car was found nearby after a search by police officers while the badly damaged vehicle was found a short time later, dumped near Frenchville state school.

The car keys to the vehicle had been stolen in an after-midnight burglary at the property on May 16 while the residents were asleep upstairs.
