Highway crash teen home from hospital

UPDATE: A Westbrook teenager injured in a Gore Hwy crash has been discharged from Toowoomba Hospital.

EARLIER: A Westbrook teenager injured in fiery Gore Hwy crash remains in Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

Police said the 17-year-old was pulled from a Mitsubishi Triton ute after it collided with a tree at the intersection of Toowoomba Rd near Pittsworth.

Firefighters were called to extinguish the ute.

EARLIER: A man has been hospitalised and his ute destroyed by fire after a crash on the Gore Hwy at Pittsworth.

Police said the man, believed to be about 17-years-old, was pulled from the vehicle.

Firefighters were called to the intersection of the highway and Toowoomba Rd at 5.50am today.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters had to extinguish the vehicle.

It is believed the ute crashed into a tree.

The man was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with minor cuts and a suspected broken collarbone.

The incident caused disruptions to highway traffic but the scene has since been cleared.
