Teens taken into custody after car chase

A TEENAGER has been charged with dangerous driving at Eagleby early this morning.

Police will alleged around 12.30am they attempted to intercept a utility on Kingston Rd, Slacks Creek that had been detected by the police helicopter travelling at high speed when it failed to stop.

The vehicle then allegedly continued north into the south Brisbane area where it struck a median strip before travelling south again on the Pacific Motorway.

Police have again attempted to intercept the vehicle in the Logan area but it allegedly failed to stop, continuing south with no headlights and deflated tyres from the earlier collision with the median strip. The vehicle has then come to a stop on the motorway at Eagleby with the driver and sole occupant taken into custody.

It will also be alleged the utility was stolen from a New Beith address on March 6.

A 16-year-old Logan Central boy has been charged with unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving unlicenced, receiving tainted property and two counts of fail to stop motor vehicle. He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
