Temperatures set to drop after hot start to week

TEMPERATURES are set to slowly rise this week before dropping 14 degrees.

Bureau of Meteorology Meteorology meteorologist Sean Fitzgerald said temperatures would increase to 34 degrees by Wednesday.

"(That) is very hot for Toowoomba," Mr Fitzgerald said.

"On Thursday there will be a cool change, with maximum temperatures down to 25. That's nearly a 10 degree change between the two days.

"On Friday the maximum will be 20 degrees."

He said a trough moving up from the south was causing the drop in temperatures.

"There is a chance of a storm this afternoon, but that would be more east of the Range," he said.

"There is a medium chance of showers from Thursday onwards."
