'Thank you': Man pleased to be sent to Rocky prison

A MAN appeared happy to be remanded in custody on Wednesday because it meant he could return to Rockhampton's correctional facility.

Damian Mark Brennand appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court for a bail application related to a wilful damage offence.

His duty solicitor requested an adjournment until February 22 as there were other charges being heard for Brennand that day.

Magistrate Damien Dwyer accepted the request and explained that Mr Brennand would be remanded in custody until then.

"Does that mean I'm staying in here or going to Rocky?” Brennand asked Mr Dwyer.

"You're going to Rocky,” Mr Dwyer replied.

"Yes!” Mr Brennand exclaimed. "Better than sitting here, I hate this place.”

Mr Dwyer told the court Brennand would be remanded in custody and would need to appear on February 22 from Rockhampton Correctional Facility by video link.

"Thank you, see ya!” he said as he left the court.
