Thank you volunteers

Capricorn Enterprise

with Mary Carroll

AS WE farewell the year 2011, I wish to pay tribute to our 100 wonderful volunteers at Capricorn Enterprise, without whom we could not deliver our grassroots tourism services to both locals and visitors to our beautiful destination.

Our wonderful volunteers at our five Visitor Information Centres across the region (Yeppoon, Rockhampton and Emerald) are greeting our summer holiday visitors every day with their happy smiles and helpful information.

This year, two of our Capricorn Coast volunteers did our region proud by taking out the Outstanding Contribution by a Volunteer or Volunteer Group Award at not just our Central Queensland Southern Great Barrier Reef Awards, but also the Queensland State Tourism Awards.

Beverley Gilligan ("Gillo") and Trevor Belz have both dedicated 21 years each to our Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre.

But it's not just our volunteers in our Visitor Information Centres who should be thanked for their incredible efforts.

We also pay tribute to our SES workers and surf lifesavers, who give their time freely to help make our community and visitors safe during the peak tourism season of the year.

This summer, why not walk up to an SES volunteer or surf lifesaver and actually thank them for their efforts. Pop into our Visitor Information Centre and have a chat to our friendly volunteers. Locals, you will be amazed at all the things you can enjoy in your own backyard.

Welcome to all our visitors this festive season. Call into our Visitor Information Centre for all your holiday needs - national park bookings, tours and attractions, accommodation, cruises and ferries to Great Keppel Island, bush walking trails and much more.

Or go to www.capricorn holidays.com.au for summer holidays specials.

As we welcome 2012, the entire team at Capricorn Enterprise wishes everyone a safe and happy festive season and a prosperous new year.
