Colonel the croc takes pride of place at Rockhampton Zoo

ATTENTION! The Colonel has arrived.

The 4.5-metre, 570kg saltwater crocodile from Koorana Crocodile Farm was delivered by crane to the crocodile enclosure at Rockhampton Zoo yesterday.

He will take up residence alongside two adults and five juvenile freshwater crocs.

The Colonel, formerly known as Gaddafi, was offered to the council after failing to perform as a stud at Koorana.

Cr Cherie Rutherford said it was not often people got the chance to get up close and personal with a massive crocodile in such a safe environment.

The Colonel will spend the next few weeks settling in before going on show.
