The drink that makes you kick back
GETTING an unnatural buzz and caffeine kick from an energy drink has been done before.
Sunshine Coast Scorcher star bowler Nick Fitzpatrick and his mother, Bernie, are looking for the alternative.
They have teamed up to launch a relaxation drink in south-east Queensland.
The drink, bChill, has been formulated with natural ingredients, is low in sugar and contains only 50 calories.
"I've always been into natural health. I just thought with all these energy drinks that are out that someone should make one that would help you chill out at the end of the day," Mr Fitzpatrick said.
It was launched on the Gold Coast last week, and the first Sunshine Coast stockists, IGA X-press at Little Mountain and B-fresh at Warana, were signed up yesterday.
The Fitzpatricks will hold a local launch at Kawana Waters Hotel on Thursday from 6pm.
"I had the idea for six months before doing anything. After that it was about eight months in development," Mr Fitzpatrick said.
"The timing has been perfect because cricket season has finished up, it gives me months to go hard on the drinks before I start training again.
"Hopefully it's up and running fully by the time cricket comes around again."
Mr Fitzpatrick said relaxation drinks were big overseas and were catching on in Australia. Consumption in the United States doubled between 2008 and 2010.
The drink will be targeted at 15- to 50-year-olds experiencing stress or anxiety or who want to improve overall well-being.
Mother and son will focus on getting stockists in south-east Queensland to start off with while looking at what other flavours they can release.
