'ARE we alone?' - a question that has been asked by humans across the world for generations.
Members of the Ipswich UFO Club say they have the answer - and it's an unequivocal 'no'.
"The word 'believe' isn't really appropriate, it's more a case of accepting the facts that have been confirmed," club member Geoff Wheeler said.
"There have been reports of encounters with beings, sightings of various types of craft, reports of unusual and unexplainable objects in the sky.
"It's mostly objects and lights exhibiting unexpected movements in the sky - that is, when compared to known movements of aircraft that people are used to in and around the skies of Ipswich.
"There were a fair few reports of alleged encounters with beings during the 1990s, but this seems to have dissipated during the 2000s to become unusual object sightings or lights in the sky."
Mr Wheeler said the Ipswich UFO Club held its first public meeting in 1994, with attendance varying from as high as 30 people to as low as three or four.
"I know that there were a couple of people from Ipswich, sometime in the late 1980s or very early 1990s who had experienced encounters with beings and a close encounter with a craft, they decided to share those experiences with the public through meetings," he said.
"Interest in the subject appears to have subsided more recently, when compared to the interest there was in the 1990s."
Mr Wheeler said the group would happily pass on what they "know to be true and to be false" to interested members of the public.
"Our group has a general interest in paranormal activities other than just UFOs. One member has a strong interest in local ghost stories, another actively scans the sky with a video camera, while another member has an interest in the telepathic aspects of encounters," Mr Wheeler said.
"We would like to encourage any member of the public who has seen or encountered anything unusual to contact us.
"Our group is there to be supportive of anyone who has had an experience and to try to help them."
