Thief steals teachers' wallets

A SNEAK thief who stole wallets from St Joseph’s School in Clermont, while teachers were supervising children in the playground, is being sought by police.

The thief is believed to have crept through deserted classrooms and helped himself to wallets owned by two teachers, sometime on Monday.

And police think the prime suspect is a thick-set man who was spotted lurking outside the nearby Clermont State School on the same day.

The man they want to track down is a heavily-built white man of average height who was wearing a big floppy hat and a bright yellow shirt.

He drove a red car.Police are also investigating a spate of graffiti and vandalism in Collins Street, Clermont after fire extinguishers stolen from the back of mine vehicles were let off.

A spokesman said the incident could be linked to high-spirited youngsters celebrating the end of the school year.

Anyone with information should contact Clermont Police Station on 4883 1222.
