Thompson returns to Rocky premier league for summer comp

REBECCA Thompson hopes to continue her 2013 netball success as Rockhampton Netball Association's Premier League gets underway.

With Rockhampton Leagues Club A-grade premiership glory still lingering in the back of her minds, Thompson and her fellow reigning premier Brothers team mates are ready and raring to step back on to the court.

The Premier League competition starts at 6.30pm next Tuesday at the Central Queensland Community Sports Centre with 14 teams of combined Senior A-grade, A-reserve and Junior A-grade teams nominated.

Thompson, who has competed in the competition for the past three seasons, was looking forward to this year's challenge.

"The competition is really good for the off-season and a real learning point for the juniors," Thompson said.

"It's going to be a very good competition. We are there for the juniors, everyone comes together and it's their chance to advance to the senior competition.

"Personally, my goals are to keep up my fitness and work on some of the little things that I haven't been able to get throughout the season, and it's a chance to try out some new things."

Thompson said players could expect Capricorn Claws netball coach Barb Ahmat to be seen regularly at the games as she scouts junior talent for the 2014 Capricorn Claws outfit to contest the Queensland State Netball competition.
