Thousands of kilometres and only a month to do it
A GROUP of five riders are covering thousands of kilometres this October to help kids with cancer.
Dianne and Donald Morris, Ross Munroe, Rodney Muston and Ed Godwell are the Biloela Spinners who have already ridden more than 2,800 kilometres and raised more than $4,500 during the Great Cycle Challenge Australia.
Mrs Morris is wrapped with what her team has achieved so far with this being their third time taking part in the challenge.
“Our team is currently doing really well heading into the third week,” Mrs Morris said.
“We look to ride 40-50km a day and then ramp it up on the weekend.
This weekend we’re riding from Biloela to Baralaba on Saturday then staying overnight at Myella before returning on Sunday so well over 200 kilometres.”
Each team member has an individual tally of money raised which contributes to the team total.
The Biloela Spinners like to maintain a friendly rival to push each other to ride and raise as much money as possible.
“You self nominate the amount of kilometres and money you’ll raise in the oath and you want to beat that,” Mrs Morris said.
“You chuck out what you want to raise and how to donate on Facebook and amongst your friends.
“We check our totals everyday and tease each other for friendly banter.
“And Australia wide its up to $3.5 million over the last two weeks.”
