Three-car smash on Fitzroy Bridge

UPDATE 4.25pm: THE person initially thought to be trapped in a car after a three-vehicle smash on the Fitzroy River Bridge at 2.05pm today has been taken to Rockhampton Hospital.

Ambulance officers said the person was not trapped by a steering wheel, but had actually suffered chest injuries which made it difficult to move.

Paramedics treated five patients from the crash and three of those were taken to Rockhampton Hospital.

Both lanes on the bridge were open to traffic within an hour.

BREAKING 2.10pm: A person is trapped in a damaged car after a mutli-vehicle smash on the Fitzroy Bridge in Rockhampton. 

The accident involving three vehicles happened about 2.05pm.

Eemergency services are working to free the trapped person.

North bound traffic is being diverted down an off ramp.
