Three in hospital after ute strikes tree

THREE people have been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after their utility struck a light pole at Robina.

Police say around 11:21pm the utility was travelling south along Scottsdale Drive when it hit the pole on a median strip and then ran into a tree. 

The 18-year-old male driver and a male passenger were treated at the scene before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

A 17-year-old woman had to be extracted from the wreckage before being taken to hospital. 

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
