Three rescues during busy weekend for Yeppoon crew

THE Yeppoon Coast Guard was kept busy over the weekend, with three tows in the region.

The coast guard headed out to North West Island at 1.30am on Sunday morning to tow a boat that had broken down due to gear box failure. The tow took the coast guard over seven hours to make it back to land.

Meanwhile, they headed out earlier on Saturday to tow a boat that had overheated just outside the harbour walls.

Another was picked up near Five Rocks.
