Times pulls column calling genocide "permissible"

THE Times of Israel withdrew a blog post by Yochanan Gordon on Friday afternoon.

The post, about the current Israeli offensive in Gaza, was titled "When Genocide is permissible".

It argued: "We are at war with an enemy whose charter calls for the annihilation of our people. Nothing, then, can be considered disproportionate when we are fighting for our very right to live."

Gordon describes himself as the son of the founder of American Paper the Five Towns Jewish Times.

More than 1,400 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Gaza since the Israeli military began Operation Protective Edge on 8 July. Israeli human rights group B'Tselem estimates that more than a quarter of those are under 18.
